Unit economics is the per-unit view of your business: what one customer, request, or job earns and costs.

AI products differ from classic SaaS in that the marginal cost of a user is real and can be substantial. Inference is COGS, and heavy users on a flat plan can be individually unprofitable.

The two numbers to track: cost per active user per month, and cost per unit of value delivered. Both need cost attribution beyond an aggregate bill.
