Postpaid billing charges you after the fact for what you used. There is no balance to run out, so nothing stops on its own — the only ceiling is one you configure.
This is why Google Cloud's model needs particular care with Gemini: a budget alert notifies but does not cap, so API quotas are usually the more practical brake.
