Key scope defines a credential's reach. On OpenAI, project keys are scoped to one project while admin keys are organisation-wide. Anthropic scopes keys to workspaces. xAI scopes billing to teams.
Scope is your main tool for both attribution and containment: work split into projects gives you per-project cost data and a per-project spend limit, which together make a runaway agent or a leaked prototype key survivable.
Retrofitting this is not possible — the historical data simply is not there.
